I did say "ETC". However you are correct. It can be the other way around. I was speaking mostly from my own point of view. What I do is upgrade/purchase a newer faster computer then my "older" computer becomes the "other" computer. Then the rest of the family has a computer to use.

Looks like you two need your own computers.

Another "monthly fee " thread eh?
Having a fee in GW will not solve issues with immature or yourng players. It may remove some, but you also alienate those who can't or decidely don't see the worth in paying a fee to continue playing the game.
You will get more complaints from people saying that they pay the monthly fee and they think they should get more or that they feel they are owed something by paying the fee. Another response I agree with that was stated by another poster was that people getting banned or blocked with through more of a fit if they feel that they were wrongfully punished.

Play WOW, FFXI, COH, or any other pay-per-month game and see if it really keeps the problem players away or if the service or patches are done in a timely manner.

GW may not be perfect, but what game truly is?

But on the topic of a monthly fee, I would consider paying a fee if a couple reasons were considered behind the reason for the fee.

$5.00 a month fee. 12 months x $5= $60 a year. About the price of an average game nowadays. I would pay this fee if not just updates/patches were covered (as they should be) but any and all future expansions.

Low fee means it may not hurt the budget of a lot of people. Required CC# to verify age, so it MAY POSSIBLY cut out SOME of the young players whos attitudes may be immature.

This is incorrect. As evidence, I site the website:

A rebuttal is welcomed.

Heheh, take a gamble and try this:

"The online game allows me to indulge in my fantasies in a way that's completely impossible in real life. Do YOU do that?"

99.9999% chance she will divorce/kill you.

(incidentally, as a person who's moved from WoW to here, wow has much more problems, support/technology-wise, than GW. It might be that WoW was a victim of its own popularity, but with queues, their servers requiring large amounts of downtime every week, overall I'd say their service was poor considering the fee. However, WoW does have a lot more content. Even if its all boring.)

Sounds like very few people would pay to play this game (aside from the initial investment). Does that mean it is inferior to those games that do require you to pay and still generate large audiences? Can we even compare the two categories and if not, is GW in a lesser category?

You could draw some similarties to television. You have PBS, Network broadcasts, Cable/Satellite and Premium Channels. There are all sorts of advantages and limitations to each forum however they're all judged in the same arena for an Emmy.

M*A*S*H*, Dallas, Cheers and Seinfeld all were able to provide great content without having to pay-to-watch whereas the Sopranos reign supreme in the premium area. Was Dallas a better show than the Sopranos? Was Seinfeld better than Curb Your Enthusiasm? Is Guild Wars better than your pay-to-play games not based on its pricing structure alone but based on its fun? To the majority of you, it doesn't sound like it is.

That's the ONLY time she tries to start conversations! I swear, I can be in a town for an hour, not a peep. The moment something starts, though...

Oy.

Well I am sorry to hear all of the sad stories........ ( I am a wife and a huge RPG gamer... I love this game and I let my husband play all the time. I know my character owns his anyday and I like reminding him ...LOL seriously though.... We play together.

I would not play as much if there was a fee....... ) We have four copies... and a wireless high speed network so we all play even the kids

Still be playing? I would have never played it in the first place if it had a monthly fee.

Oh yeah, it's always something "critical" at the moment, like "can you PLEASE go bring me your dirty laundry right now!".

I did buy her a copy of GW. Though she isn't addicted as I am, she is starting to understand the irritation of distractions during a mission.

My shining moment..... Changing a poopy diaper on my 2 year-old son while deep in battle at Thunderhead Keep!!!

You, sir, are a god among men. I'm doing good if I can keep my dinner down ("poopy" diapers make me gag something aweful!).

Heh heh! Thanks for the compliment.

BTW, I was NOT AFK during the battle! (Learning to be ambidextrous!)
